Marcus Rashford unveiling delayed until Wednesday

Barcelona will have to wait until Wednesday to unveil Marcus Rashford. The England international, who is undergoing a medical on Monday, has had his presentation pushed back due to Flick’s double training session on Tuesday.

England’s Marcus Rashford, set to become Hansi Flick’s next signing for Barcelona, is undergoing a medical on Monday morning before signing his contract with the Catalan club, with the official announcement scheduled for Wednesday, according to sources within the club.

The Manchester United forward arrived in the Catalan capital on Sunday to finalise his loan move to Barcelona, who will have the player on loan for this season with an option to buy for around 30 million euros.

Although the initial plan was to present him on Tuesday, Flick’s scheduling of a double training session that day has forced the contract signing to be postponed until Wednesday afternoon.

It will be then that Rashford poses in president Joan Laporta’s office and gives his first statements to the club’s media. Barcelona, as they did with Lamine Yamal, will organise a press conference in the club shop at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Following Nico Williams’ decision to stay at Athletic and Liverpool’s refusal to transfer Luis Díaz, Barça have decided to move for the United player, a versatile forward who can play in all three attacking positions.

The loan deal entails minimal financial risk, and its sporting success will depend on Rashford’s willingness to revive his career, with the talented player having suffered a progressive decline in performance in recent seasons.

The Catalan club have accelerated his incorporation in recent hours with the aim of the winger being able to travel with the team this Thursday for the tour of Japan and Korea.

Barcelona will play three friendlies in Asia: against Vissel Kobe on Sunday 27th; Seoul on Thursday 31st; and Daegu on Monday 4th August.
