Santos claimed a crucial win over leaders Flamengo in Round 14 of the Brazilian league thanks to a late goal from Neymar Jr, who found the net again in his country’s domestic championship since last doing so in December 2012.
Neymar received the ball from Guilherme in the 84th minute. The former Barcelona man turned his defender and managed to find space to finish past goalkeeper Agustín Rossi.
“It’s very difficult to play against a team like that, but we’ve shown that we can go much further than we are at the moment. It’s a new start for all of us. We’ve had time to work, we’ve shown that we can play against any team in the league,” he told reporters after the win.
