Brentford eye Hutchinson as Mbeumo contingency despite £35m bid rejection

Brentford remain keen on signing Omari Hutchinson this summer, viewing the Ipswich Town winger as a potential replacement for Bryan Mbeumo should the latter depart, with Manchester United reportedly circling.

However, their initial £35 million offer has already been rejected after failing to meet the payment structure required to trigger the now-expired release clause.

Despite the setback, the Bees are expected to return with renewed interest as Hutchinson is understood to be open to the move. Ipswich, meanwhile, are hopeful of retaining the 21-year-old, who played a vital role in their promotion push last season, but are braced for further approaches as the window progresses.

As it stands, no formal negotiations have taken place between the clubs, though Brentford’s appreciation for the player is clear. The west London side see the midfielder not only as a high-upside addition, but also as a stylistic fit for their dynamic, attacking setup.

With uncertainty surrounding Mbeumo’s future and interest from top-flight rivals growing, the player’s situation is quickly becoming one to watch — particularly as Brentford look to stay one step ahead in the event of a key summer departure.
