Milan announced the departures of Luka Jovic, who finishes his contract on the 30th, and Tammy Abraham, who was on loan and returns to Roma. Both have had little involvement this season.
Serbian striker Luka Jovic, who spent the last two seasons at Milan, became on Sunday the fifth player to be leave the ‘Rossoneri’, who did not exercise his option to renew his contract for another season.
“Thank you, Luka! We wish you all the best for the next stage of your career,” Milan posted on social media.
Jovic’s contract provided the Italian club with a unilateral option to renew his contract, which Milan did not triggered before 30th June, when his contract expired, meaning the former Real Madrid player is now free to sign for any team, with Mexican side Cruz Azul the most likely destination, according to Italian media reports.
Jovic, 28, had a strange year in Milan, first completely sidelined by Paulo Fonseca and then a starter under Sergio Conceicao, with whom he was able to earn a place and break a goal drought of almost a year in March 2025. He finished the season with four goals in 17 games played.
However, the arrival of a new sporting management, with the Albanian Igli Tare at the helm, and a new coach, Massimiliano Allegri, closed the door on his continuity as a Milan player.
Milan continue with the reconstruction of a team that was left out of European competitions and lost the final of the Coppa Italia.
While awaiting the arrival of Croatian Luka Modric, they have already said goodbye to Jovic, England’s Kyle Walker and Tammy Abraham, Portugal’s Joao Felix and Italy’s Riccardo Sottil, who will return to Manchester City, Roma, Chelsea and Fiorentina respectively.
