Trezeguet fined after penalty miss against Inter Miami

Trezeguet, the man who took and missed Al Ahly’s penalty against Inter Miami at the Club World Cup, has been fined by his federation for missing the spot-kick, as he was not the originally assigned taker.

Trezeguet will not forget his debut at the 2025 Club World Cup. He had the chance to win the game against Leo Messi’s Inter Miami, but he wasted the penalty he had, a penalty that has led to a financial fine.

Egyptian media reported and “Globo Esporte” confirmed that the Egyptian striker was fined by his federation after missing the penalty. It was not for not scoring the goal itself, but because he was not the designated kicker.

Al Ahly had Wessam Abou Ali as their main kicker. He was also on the pitch, so he should have taken it. However, the footballer himself explained what happened.

“I am the number one penalty taker, but Trezeguet wanted to take it. He thought he could and unfortunately he missed it. We have a list. He’s on it too, after me. I missed it, I’ve missed it before too, so we can’t blame him for the penalty,” he said.
