Mainoo out for Spurs clash as United face triple injury blow in midfield

Ruben Amorim could be without three Man United players in midfield for Sunday’s clash against Tottenham as the ‘Athletic’ reports that Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer have all picked up injuries in training.

Ruben Amorim is facing a crisis in midfield on the eve of Man United’s Premier League clash against Spurs. According to ‘the Athletic’ Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer have all picked up injuries in training this week.

The Portuguese coach revealed on Friday that he had drafted in youth players for this week’s training session due to injury and illness problems within his first team. However, he refused to identify the injured players he referred to during the press conference.

The same source reports that 19-year-old Mainoo is expected to be ruled out for more couple of weeks, while Ugarte and Collyer remain ‘major doubts’ for Sunday’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The loss of the trio, who join Shaw, Evans and Mount in the United medical department, brings Eriksen and Casemiro back into contention for a starting place against the north London side. The pair last started in the 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle on December 30.
