The Premier League title race remains alive heading into the final week of the season, with Arsenal still leading the way on 79 points but Manchester City refusing to loosen their grip on the chase.
Mikel Arteta’s side sit top on 79 points with two matches remaining, while Manchester City moved onto 77 after Wednesday’s convincing 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
Guardiola’s men have also gathered further momentum following Saturday’s FA Cup final triumph against Chelsea, extending the feeling that City are once again building force during the closing stages of the season.
Despite the narrow gap between the sides, Arsenal remain overwhelming favourites to finish the job. The equation is simple for the Gunners: victories against already-relegated Burnley on Monday and Crystal Palace on the final day would secure the title regardless of City’s results.
That leaves City with virtually no margin for error.
If Arsenal overcome Burnley at the Emirates Stadium, Guardiola’s side would be forced to beat Bournemouth the following day simply to keep the race alive heading into the final weekend. The Cherries’ pursuit of Champions League qualification only increases the difficulty of that assignment.

Arsenal close to glory, but City still lurking
The contrast in momentum and pressure between the two clubs has become one of the defining features of the run-in. Arsenal know the title is within touching distance but are equally aware that any slip could immediately reignite City’s hopes.
The Cityzens, meanwhile, have little choice other than to continue winning and attempt to force tension onto the leaders for as long as possible.
City’s consistency remains formidable. The champions are now unbeaten in 14 Premier League matches, a sequence that explains why Arsenal have been unable to relax despite leading the table for much of the closing stretch.

Run-in still offers twists for both sides
On May 24, the final day of the season, Arsenal travel to Crystal Palace while City host Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.
While Arsenal’s fixture appears more favourable on paper, Palace could still present an awkward challenge even with their focus likely drifting towards the Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano three days later.
City’s own schedule looks considerably tougher. Aston Villa remain heavily involved in the battle for European qualification, ensuring Guardiola’s side are unlikely to encounter opponents with little left to fight for.
For now, however, Arsenal remain in control of the race. City continue to apply pressure with relentless consistency, but the Gunners know that avoiding mistakes over their final two matches would finally return the Premier League trophy to North London.
