Kampala-based supporter Eric Kyama is seeking damages from the ‘Gunners’ after a string of disappointing results left Manchester City in control of the title race.
As Arsenal endure a turbulent conclusion to their campaign, the club has become the unlikely focus of one of the sport’s more bizarre legal disputes. A disgruntled supporter has filed a lawsuit against the ‘Gunners’, alleging that the team’s performances have induced stress and anxiety.
The claimant, Eric Kyama, is an Arsenal devotee based in Kampala, Uganda. Kyama took to social media to share a formal notice sent to the London club, citing a lawsuit for “emotional distress, stress, and anxiety, among other damages.”
Kyama’s grievances stem from the club’s recent slump under manager Mikel Arteta, with the defeat to Bournemouth in the season’s final stretch acting as the catalyst for the legal move.
It has been a bruising period for the ‘Gunners’, who suffered defeat in the EFL Cup final against Manchester City and were knocked out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage. To compound their misery, they have seen the ‘Citizens’ seize command of the Premier League title race. City currently sit six points clear with a game in hand and a high-stakes head-to-head still on the horizon.
