Alexander-Arnold to miss Spurs clash with thigh injury

Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has avoided a serious thigh injury, according to ‘The Times’. The England full-back will miss the Reds’ Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham but is likely to be available for the Merseyside derby.

Alarm bells started ringing at Liverpool when Alexander-Arnold had to be replaced by Conor Bradley in the second half of the Reds’ 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday due to muscle problems.

Fans at Anfield were fearful that a key player like Alexander-Arnold could miss several weeks with a muscle injury at a time when the key games of this campaign are coming up.

However, ‘The Times’ has reported that according to recent scans, the 26-year-old full-back, who is rumoured to be set for a move to Real Madrid at the end of the season as a free agent, has avoided a serious thigh injury, and will therefore be out for days rather than weeks.

In fact, the Reds defender is ruled out for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham and the visit of Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup, but is likely to be available for the Merseyside derby on 12th February.
