“I chose United because it’s a historic club, a great project”

Benjamin Sesko has been officially unveiled as a Manchester United player. The striker is keen to be part of another winning project and is confident in the squad assembled this summer.

Benjamin Sesko, the recent Manchester United signing from RB Leipzig for £74 million (€85 million), highlighted that from the offers he received, he chose the Red Devils because it is a “historic” club, and expressed his eagerness to begin the new project.

“I chose Manchester United because it’s a historic club. The team is strengthening well, and that makes you want to join and gives you the energy to be a part of it. I believe it’s a great project, and I can’t wait to get started,” the Slovenian stated in comments released by his new team.

“I can already feel that we’re going to be a great family, and it’s just a matter of time before we can succeed again. We, as a team, will try to grow together, and little by little, we will improve,” he added.

Sesko, 22, was also a target for Newcastle United as an alternative should Alexander Isak be sold, but he opted for United, who will not compete in Europe this year. Last season, they finished fifteenth in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking about his idol, Zlatan Ibrahimović, who also played for Manchester United, the Slovenian was full of praise: “Ever since I was little, I used to watch him on YouTube because he was incredible, and I liked the way he played. He is my idol, and it would be a dream to meet him one day.”

His debut for Manchester United could come next Sunday in the match against Arsenal at Old Trafford, on the opening day of the Premier League.
