“I can’t wait to return to Cornella”

FC Barcelona’s Joan Garcia spoke to ‘RAC 1’s ‘Tu Diras’ programme about his return to Espanyol’s ground. The goalkeeper said he is aware of what might happen, but is looking forward to returning, even if it is in different colours.

Joan Garcia continues to make progress in his recovery from the injury he suffered to the meniscus in his left knee. The goalkeeper, who is in the final stretch, gave an interview to ‘RAC 1’ in which he discussed several topics.

The main one was his possible return to Cornella, a match scheduled for the early days of 2026: “Good, I’m looking forward to it; will I have the perfect match? I hope so, we’ll try. The truth is that I want to go back. I think it will be different to come back with another shirt, also aware of what can happen, but I will go as to any match. I will try to play the best match possible and we will try to win”.

“I did it because I felt it at the time. I spent many years at Espanyol, I suffered a lot and I also enjoyed it a lot. The last year was complicated. Until the last day we couldn’t save ourselves and, in the end, these are things that come out. I am very fond of them and I suffered a lot, these are things that come out. One thing does not take away from the other. The affection I have for Espanyol can be compatible with taking a step forward and looking for the best for me and my career”, he added.

Finally, Joan Garcia spoke about his team’s chances in La Liga: “We know that it will be a complicated La Liga, but we try to win every match without thinking beyond that. After these matches that have not gone as we would have liked, we want to turn the situation around. We will talk a lot and look at what we can improve. I see the team focused”.
