Mastantuono returns to Valdebebas as Mbappe expected to face Getafe

Franco Mastantuono returned to Real Madrid training on Wednesday following the international break, while Kylian Mbappe is expected to be available for Sunday’s clash with Getafe despite an ankle knock sustained on international duty.

The Argentine missed both of his national team’s friendlies during the October break after suffering from muscular fatigue before joining Lionel Scaloni’s squad.

Although he initially reported for duty, he was later ruled out and returned to Madrid on Saturday. After several days of rest, Mastantuono completed the full session under Xabi Alonso without any issues and is now in contention for the weekend fixture.

Meanwhile, Mbappe continued his recovery plan after picking up a blow to his right ankle while playing for France.

The forward, who still managed to score and assist in 83 minutes against Azerbaijan before being substituted, is expected to return to full training over the next two days.

Despite the knock, Real Madrid remain confident he will be fit to feature against Getafe, having started the season in prolific form with 14 goals in ten matches.

There was also positive news for Ferland Mendy, who completed his second consecutive session with the group. The left-back has not played since April due to a muscle injury, but is gradually regaining match fitness as he edges closer to a return.

However, Dean Huijsen (soleus), Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, and Trent Alexander-Arnold (all with muscle problems) remain unavailable and continue with individual recovery work.

Wednesday’s session was held without the majority of Madrid’s international players — including Camavinga, Alaba, Arda Güler, Courtois, Brahim, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Militão, and Gonzalo Garcia — who are set to rejoin the squad progressively.

The entire group is expected to train together on Friday, two days before the trip to Getafe.
