The Spanish national team player Aymeric Laporte was in the press room before the match against Switzerland and openly assured, in relation to his presence with ‘la Roja’, that winning the European Championship was very good for him. In addition, the defender said that he had no links with Madrid.
The Spanish national team has its sights set on Switzerland. After the goalless draw against Serbia away from home, Luis de la Fuente’s side will be looking for their first three points of the Nations League at the Stade de Geneve. Laporte, who looks set to start, was in the press room and spoke about the level of ‘La Roja’.
“The rest since the European Championship has been little. For us a draw is like a defeat, because we are winners, even more so after winning the Euro. Sometimes you get matches like the one in Belgrade. Here the demand is always maximum,” said the defender, who admitted that his role was strengthened by the victory at the European Championship.
“Winning always vindicates you. It was very good for me. I’ve given no reason to doubt myself since I’ve been here. I feel important, privileged. We are all equal here. I’m very happy in a group where there are no starters and substitutes,” commented Laporte.
On the other hand, the Spanish international, who was linked with Madrid this summer, made it very clear that there was not any approach: “There was no approach”. The Al Nassr player was very frank about his future and did not rule out a return to European football: ’I’m far away from my environment and my family in Arabia. That will be evaluated in the future in order to return to Europe. If it happens, we’ll have to analyse it.
