What was an open secret has been confirmed. Toni Kroos, whose contract with Real Madrid expires on 30th June, will remain at the club for another year, until 2024.
Good news for Real Madrid. Toni Kroos, an undisputed member of Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield, is staying. The club announced that he will continue for another year.
Kroos, at 33 years of age, has always been clear that his priority was to stay at the ‘Merengues’. Saudi Arabia tried to sign him, like Benzema, but with a difference: the German decided to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and turned down a big offer from this competition.
In a brief statement, Madrid announced the midfielder’s continuity: “The club and Toni Kroos have agreed on a contract extension for the player, who remains linked to the club until 30th June 2024″.
In the statement, the club boast about their player, who “arrived at Real Madrid in 2014 and is already the player who has worn the shirt the most times since his arrival, with 417 games”.
The club recalled his several achievements as a ‘Merengue’: “In his 9 seasons as a Madridista, he has won 20 titles: 4 Champions League, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 3 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups”.
This new contract means that Kroos will celebrate a decade as a Real Madrid player. In those 417 games as a Real Madrid player, he has scored 27 goals and provided 84 assists, figures that he will have the opportunity to improve on next season.
