Milan agree deal with Madrid for Alex Jimenez

Journalist Manuele Baiocchini reports that Milan have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the signing of defender Alex Jimenez in exchange for 5 million euros. The figure was the amount of the purchase option on his loan move this season to the Italian side, which has delighted the ‘Rossoneri’ board. The ‘Merengues’ side will be allowed to buy him back for a much higher price tag than the one that will be attached to his signing.

Real Madrid’s youth academy is a showcase for exporting talent to other major leagues when its first team squad does not have the space to welcome it. One of the cases this season is that of Alex Jimenez, who is on loan at Milan, with whom he is alternating his performances with the Primavera -the Under 19s- and the first team -5 appearances, 2 as a starter-. The defender has been so well liked that the club’s board have signed him on a long-term contract.

This is reported by journalist Manuele Baiocchini in ‘Sky Sport Italia’. The details are as follows: the ‘Rossoneri’ will pay a little less than 5 million euros, the figure with which the option to buy his loan to Italy had been labelled, in exchange for Madrid’s board keeping the possibility of buying him back for a much higher price than what the Serie A side will pay for him.

This season, the defender has so far made 20 appearances for the Madonnina outfit in the top flight, although two of those came in friendly matches – against Trento and Novara back in August. In most of his outings with the first team, he did not even take the field, but did so against Napoli, Roma, Atalanta, Empoli and Cagliari.

Alex Jimenez, who plays as a full-back, had no room to progress in Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid side, which is very demanding on the flanks due to veteran Dani Carvajal‘s cohabitation with Ferland Mendy, who has greatly reduced Fran Garcia’s playing time. There have already been other talents who have been forced to look elsewhere and have succeeded. For example, Miguel Gutierrez, who is fighting to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League with Girona.
