As De Gea looks to be walking away from Man United, the club need to find themselves a replacement, and the answer reportedly might be Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez. They are not the only interested party however, and may face competition from Chelsea,
Manchester United have got themselves in a spot of trouble with David De Gea, and now it looks like the Spanish goalkeeper is set to walk away from the club after 12 seasons. The means the Red Devils need to search for a replacement, and reports say they’re looking at Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
The 30-year-old World Cup winner has already played with United defender Lisandro Martinez, as the two took home football’s biggest prize together in Qatar, making Erik ten Hag confident in their pre-existing conncection.
‘Football Transfers’ reports that Emi wants to play in the Champions League, feeling he is at his peak, and this is something that United could offer him, as their 3rd place Premier League finish last season grants them qualification in 2023-24.
However, ‘The Guardian’ write that there is also interest from Chelsea, now managed by Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino, which means that Man United might have to fight to secure his services for next season.
🚨Manchester United and Chelsea are both interested in Aston Villa's Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, 30.
