Christian Falk of Germany’s main sporting tabloid reports that there is a “gentleman’s agreement” in place that should allow for Yann Sommer’s smooth departure from FC Bayern München this offseason.
Falk goes on to suggest that Manchester United would gladbly take Sommer off the FCB’s hands whilst also permanently acquiring Marcel Sabitzer.
With Manuel Neuer back in training and Alexander Nübel likely headed back to Bavaria, signs continue to point to a departure for FC Bayern München’s current #1 Yann Sommer after the current campaign concludes. The 34-year-old Swiss national team goalkeeper signed a contract good through 2025 when joining Bayern this January, but appears to have no real future with the club.
German transfer expert Christian Falk of Sport Bild reports that Manchester United may wish to complete a piece of double business with the German record champions, signing Austrian loan-out Marcel Sabitzer and picking up Sommer at the same time. According to Falk, Bayern seek a simple recoup of the €8 million they spent on Sommer and could settle on around €20 million for Sabitzer.
✅ Manchester United is still interested in Yann Sommer. There's a gentlemen's agreement between Bayern and Sommer that if Manuel Neuer will be back as number one, the club would allow the Swiss goalkeeper to leave in summer
