Real Madrid are not short of talent in their midfield, and have already added to the collection this summer with Jude Bellingham. Game time will be a precious commodity, and Liverpool are willing to test the resolve of Fede Valverde with a second offer, worth €90 million.
Unlike many other clubs this summer, Real Madrid are certainly not worrying about their midfield. Stacked with veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, as well as Dani Ceballos, Aurelien Tchouameni and younger talents Camavinga and now Jude Bellingham, game time will be a premium for these stars.
This has attracted the attention of a few clubs, who believe they can tempt away players who won’t want to compete for minutes, and among them are Liverpool. The Reds are eyeing Fede Valverde, and according to ‘El Nacional’, they are ready to make an improved bid for the Uruguayan.
‘Daily Mail’ reported earlier this month that they’d had a bid already quickly rejected by ‘Los Merengues’ worth almost €60 million, but now the Catalan outlet published that the Premier League team are ready to go back, with an offer worth a huge €90 million.
Valverde struggled last season coming back from the World Cup break in December, which may make it seem more acceptable for Florentino Perez’s club to let him go. The 24-year-old would also have to give the green light to the move however, and previously this summer did not have any intention to leave Madrid, but that may all change this summer.
Although Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister this summer, they need to combat the departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita, and Valverde would provide plenty of experience, despite his relatively young age.
He has won two La Liga titles, as well as a Champions League trophy and featured in La Liga’s team of the season 2022-23. He is impressively versatile and can play as a central midfielder, right winger or defensive midfielder, which makes him a very attractive target for Klopp.
