Italian paper reveals when Napoli defender Kim will join Man Utd and transfer fee

Il Corriere dello Sport confirms Manchester United are close to securing the signature of Napoli defender Kim-Min-Jae and will complete a €58m transfer at the start of July.

The South Korea international only joined the Partenopei last summer, but a clause in his contract with the Serie A champions makes him available for clubs outside Serie A for circa €50m.

Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli explained a few months ago that the clause is only valid in the first two weeks of July and that the transfer fee depends on the revenues of the club activating it.

Tuesday’s printed edition of Il Corriere dello Sport confirms Manchester United are willing to trigger the clause, so they are expected to finalise his signature in the first two weeks of July.

‘Kim will leave at the exact moment United will activate the clause worth €58m,’ wrote Fabio Mandarini in Wednesday’s printed edition of the newspaper.

Kim joined Napoli from Fenerbache for just €18m a year ago, replacing Kalidou Koulibaly. The South Korea international has played 44 games this season, scoring two goals.
