Former England defender Stuart Pearce spoke about Harry Maguire’s future at Manchester United and said he “would do everything he could to sign him” if he was a football manager.

Harry Maguire is in a tricky situation. The 30-year-old is likely to leave Old Trafford this summer despite recent offers rejected for him.

The centre-back has been playing for Manchester United for four seasons but his career with the Red Devils could soon be over due to the blunders he made in the 2022/23 season.

Both the board and Erik ten Hag are looking for a new destination for Maguire but will not accept just any offer. They have already turned down West Ham, who offered 20 million pounds for his transfer.

Former England defender Stuart Pearce disagrees with Manchester United’s decision and believes he still has a lot of potential. The 61-year-old said in an interview that he “would do everything he could to sign him” if he was a football manager.

“If I was a Premier League manager, I would be doing everything I can to bring Harry Maguire to my football club. For what he stands for as a player, his age, experience, he’s comfortable on the ball, and capable of goals in the opposite box. I can’t see any negatives,” he told ‘Sportsbeat’.

“For me, I would do my level best to get him out of United if I was a manager at another team. It tells you a lot when Ten Hag isn’t saying, ‘I want Harry Maguire moved on’. That tells you his attitude in training is spot on.

“He sees his worth. He [Ten Hag] doesn’t see him as a first-team starter but whenever you need a game seeing out, he puts Maguire in the heart of defence to make sure they keep the ball out the net,” he added.

Harry Maguire’s future is uncertain. We will have to wait and see whether he stays in Manchester or starts a new adventure at another club.
