Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about Manchester City’s Champions League triumph and compared it to Messi winning the World Cup with Argentina in an interview for Argentinian newspaper ‘Ole’.
City’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan in Istanbul saw Pep Guardiola’s men become just the second side to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season.
The Spanish manager gave an interview to Argentinian newspaper ‘Ole’ and compared his triumph in Europe’s top competition to Messi’s World Cup glory with Argentina.
“I don’t want to compare myself much less with Leo [Messi] but there is an image of him in the World Cup that you say ‘that’s it, that’s it‘,” he said.
Guardiola also spoke about his feelings on the final in Istanbul: “Look, today we are very happy but we could have tied at the end. Inter could have tied with us and we could have lost.
“And now we would not be doing this note and everyone would not be so happy. In the end, sport at this high level is about details,” he added.
❗️Pep Guardiola to @DiarioOle: “I think the job is done. I don't want to compare myself with Leo (Messi) but there is an image in the World Cup after the final when he says: "That's it, that's it". Right? Well, in this club I know that that’s it, that’s it.”🗣️🇪🇸 pic.twitter.com/kf3dSzKtr8
