Guardiola agrees to stay one more year at Man City: reports

According to ‘The Athletic’ Pep Guardiola and Man City have reached an agreement over a one-year contract extension with the option of an additional year. The offcial announcement from the club will reportedly arrive in the coming days.

Man City have endured a nightmare month of November so far. The reigning Premier League champions have suffered their fourth-consecutive loss in their latest game against Brighton before the international break, intensifying speculation that Pep Guardiola’s time at the club could be over.

However, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for City fans as the Spaniard, who’s contract with the club runs out at the end of the current campaign, is set to stay for at least one more season. The latest reports from ‘The Athletic’ inform that Guardiola has agreed a one-year contract extension with the option of an additional year.

With the official announcement set to arrive in the coming days, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss will be leading the Citizens in the upcoming season. Since arriving at the Etihad in 2016, Guardiola has won 18 trophies with Manchester City, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first-ever Champions League in 2023.

Currently, Man City find themselves sitting second in the Premier League table, five points behind league-leaders Liverpool who are on 28. Despite being in the midst of their worst run of defeats since Guardiola’s arrival, fans will hope the manager’s renewal could serve to lift the mood at the club.

Manchester City will be back to Premier League action on Saturday as they host Tottenham in what will be a crucial match for the defending champions’ hopes to bag an historic fourth-consecutive league title. “It is a tough challenge, but I am here,” Guardiola said after his third loss against Sporting in the Champions League.
