Cody Gakpo is looking forward to his first full season as a Red, after making the move in the January transfer window. The Dutchman has begun pre-season training with Liverpool, alongside the new signings, and discussed his team and his aims for the coming campaign.

Dutch forward Cody Gakpo has made an impressive start to his time at Liverpool. Making 26 appearances in five months, the youngster scored seven times and provided a further six assists.

Now he is one of 14 members of the squad who have returned for the pre-season under Jurgen Klopp, and sat down with Liverpool’s official media to discuss several topics, including his aims for the upcoming campaign.

“I think everybody has the same mindset at the moment: we really want to achieve something this year again. That’s the target and we will train hard for that“, he said. “We ended, I think, the campaign pretty good with a nice run of winning games, and I hope we start there again and do that for the whole season: win prizes together and show everybody how good we are“.

“In the end we win as a team and hopefully we are going to win some prizes again”, he added. The ’18’ was also very complimentary of his new teammates, Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, and is excited to be sharing the dressing room with them.

“Very pleased [they are here]. I think everybody knows that they are very good players and I’m really looking forward to playing with them together”, he said.
