According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Liverpool and Valencia for Giorgi Mamardashvili’s transfer for 35 million euros are progressing. The Reds want the 23-year-old to be loaned out for a season or two to another club, such as Bournemouth.
Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth could be the big beneficiaries of the sale of Giorgi Mamardashvili to Liverpool if the deal goes through. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are still making progress in negotiations with Valencia and their idea is not that the Georgian will fill Alisson’s place, but that he will do so from the 2025/26 season onwards.
Liverpool plan to secure his services now and loan him out to a favourable destination to develop his Premier League experience. The Cherries would be delighted to receive him and could easily take on a large percentage of his salary.
Currently, the former Rayo Vallecan coach’s favourite goalkeeper is Neto, who also has a past at Mestalla. He left the Turia for Barcelona in a 26 million euro transfer. When his contract expired, he joined the English side where he is tied until 30 June 2026.
At 35, he is beginning to look towards retirement, although the fact that he has two seasons left on his contract with Bournemouth suggests he won’t be cutting this journey short.
Even so, it is understandable that his bosses are already considering the possibility of using Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is coming off the back of a great European Championship with the Georgian national team, to improve his performance this year.
