FC Barcelona announced on social media that their winger Raphinha has suffered an “injury to the biceps femoris of the right thigh”. The Selecao international was forced off the pitch against Sevilla in the first half.
Barcelona woke up to some bad news on Saturday after the Catalans slept at the top of the La Liga table with a 1-0 win over Sevilla thanks to a Sergio Ramos own goal.
Xavi Hernandez’s side had to deal with Raphinha being forced off the field in the first half with an injury in the 37th minute. Up until that point, the Brazilian winger had been thriving in his new midfield position handed to him by the Catalan coach.
On Saturday morning the ‘Cules’ confirmed the player’s injury on their social networks: “Tests have shown that Raphinha suffers an injury in the biceps femoris of the right thigh. He is out and his progress will determine his availability,” reads the statement.
A hard blow for the Catalan giants, as Raphinha had been a key player for Xavi so far. The international with the Selecao had played 7 official matches so far, 4 as a starter, giving 2 assists and scoring 2 goals
