Legendary Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has sent a message of congratulations specifically to Victor Osimhen after Napoli were crowned Serie A champions for the first time in 33 years on Thursday evening.
The former Cote D’Ivoire international responded to a tweet from Osimhen’s account, which included a photo from the on-field celebrations, captioned: ‘Greatness.’
Drogba replied: “Indeed Capo. From the streets of Nigeria to the world’s history books. Congratulations my brother to you and your club.”
Osimhen has often cited Drogba as his childhood hero and inspiration, and has previously told interviewers that he admires his mentality as well as “the player and person” that he is.
With 23 league goals to his name, and a four goal advantage over the league’s second highest goalscorer Lautaro Martinez with just four games to go, Osimhen looks set to add the Serie A golden boot to his growing collection of accolades from this season.
His exceptional performances over the course of this season have not gone unnoticed, however, and is currently linked with a high-profile move in the summer, with strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain as well as a number of clubs in the Premier League reported in recent months.
Indeed Capo @victorosimhen9 from the streets of Nigeria to the World’s History books .
