Manchester United beat PAOK in the Europa League with a brace from Amad Diallo to make it three games unbeaten for the Dutchman’s interim boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy as he awaits the next manager Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United hosted PAOK at Old Trafford in interim coach Ruud Van Nistelroy’s third match in charge of the team. The Red Devils controlled possession in the first half-hour of the match but were unable to find a clear-cut chance to score.
PAOK for their part were subjected to Van Nistelrooy’s side’s control of the game but after the half hour they began to have more possession and in the 28th minute Camara’s powerful shot made Onana make a great save to deny them the opener.
In the second half, the Old Trafford side continued to look to create chances down both flanks through Garnacho and Diallo, until the latter headed home Fernandes’ cross at the far post in the 50th minute to give the hosts the lead.
Tissoudali had another chance for the visitors but Onana again denied the striker’s shot to keep the lead on the scoreboard.
In the 78th Diallo stole the ball from the PAOK defender on the right flank and drove and with his left foot doubled the lead for the team although minutes after the goal he had to be substituted by Mount as he was in discomfort.
The Red Devils are already looking ahead to their next Premier League matchday 11 fixture against Leicester again at Old Trafford on 10 November in what could be interim manager Van Nistelrooy’s last game as Ruben Amorim is expected to arrive in Manchester on 11 November.
