Premier League clubs eyeing free agent swoop for Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane’s contract with Bayern Munich expires in July 2025, and while the Bavarians are in talks with the player to renew, failure to reach an agreement could see the winger make a shock return to the Premier League. Multiple English clubs are monitoring the situation for the former Man City star and are hoping to sign him on a free deal this summer should things in Germany not work out.

Bayern Munich are in talks with Leroy Sane to extend the player’s contract, which expires in July 2025. A new deal has been offered to him until 2028, as per Nicolo Schira, but there has been no response from the the German international’s camp thus far. Should the two parties fail to reach an agreement on a new contract, Sane could see himself make a shock return to the Premier League.

According to several reports, multiple Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Sane’s contract situation, hoping to jump in for a free agent swoop in the summer if an agreement is not reached between the former Man City star and Bayern Munich. As per ‘Football Insider’ and ‘Fichajes’, Newcastle seem to be the most keen on the 28-year-old, though ‘Telegrafi’ also claim Arsenal are also interested.

The Magpies have been investing heavily in recent years following the ownership takeover, aiming to continue their growth to establish themselves among the global football elites. They see Sane’s singing as a potential figure to lead their attack, replacing Almiron on the left flank. Nevertheless, concrete negotiations are yet to take place with both the Bavarians and player, as Newcastle await progress on his contract situation.

Sane is currently one of Bayern’s highest earners, but the Bundesliga giants have reportedly told the winger that they are only willing to extend his stay at the club if he is willing to take a pay cut, which has significantly stalled negotiations, as per ‘The Gazette’. A move to Newcastle, would see Sane make a comeback to the English league five years after he left Pep Guardiola’s Man City.
