According to ‘The Sun’, Manchester United are monitoring former Newcastle player Mikel Merino, who currently plays for Real Sociedad, as they look to bolster their midfield with the 27-year-old.
Mikel Merino, who has been playing for Real Sociedad for five seasons, is being targeted by Premier League giants Manchester United to strengthen their midfield next campaign.
The 27-year-old already knows what it is like to play in the English top-flight as he played for Newcastle in the 2017/18 season but failed to secure a permanent stay.
According to ‘The Sun’, the Red Devils have sent scouts to keep an eye on his situation as the English club’s co-owner Jim Ratcliffe plans to restructure United for the summer.
The Spaniard’s current contract with Real Sociedad expires in 2025. As a result, the La Liga side could be interested in selling him in the next transfer window if they do not decide to extend his deal.
