Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga said in an interview for ‘SoccerNews’ that he is “confident” Antony will regain his form and score many goals for Manchester United.
Antony has struggled more than most since joining from Ajax in 2022. He was given a leave of absence in September to deal with allegations of abuse against him that the Brazil winger strongly denies.
Ten Hag believes the off-field issues have had a big impact on Antony. “I can explain. I think it’s very simple. I think his off-field issues stop him playing,” he said. Be that as it may, the 23-year-old has only scored one goal and provided one assist in 25 games this season.
However, some of his former teammates such as Anthony Elanga, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest, still have faith in his qualities. “Antony is a great player and a beautiful person. We had a lot of contact when I was at United, and we still talk sometimes now,” he told ‘SoccerNews.nl’.
“I am confident that he will score a lot of goals there. I could already see that during the training sessions. I believe in God, and he told me to go to Nottingham, and Antony is still at United. But he will really be successful there,” he claimed.
