Manchester United have no intention of keeping Anthony Martial and will not activate the clause in his contract to extend the French striker’s contract for another year.

Anthony Martial joined Old Trafford in 2015 from Ligue 1 side Monaco in a transfer worth over £50 million. In 2019 the player signed a new contract for five more seasons.

According to David Ornstein of ‘The Athletic’ the French striker has a contract extension clause with Manchester United but the club have no intention of enforcing it.

The 28-year-old would leave as a free agent next summer unless an offer for him arrives in the January transfer window. This case could be the same as that of David de Gea who also had a clause in his contract to extend his contract for another year with the Red Devils but the club decided not to execute it either and he left for free.

Martial has made 19 official appearances in the 2023-24 season but only seven of them as a starter in which he has scored just two goals in all competitions. The former Monaco player has made 317 appearances in total for Manchester United, scoring a total of 90 goals, although he has not had much luck with injuries during his time in Manchester.
