More bad news for Chelsea. The Blues announced on their official website that Carney Chukwuemeka will have to undergo surgery on the knee injury he sustained in Pochettino’s side’s defeat to West Ham.

Bad news is piling up for Chelsea. The Blues, who are yet to win in the 2023/2024 Premier League, have confirmed that Carney Chukwuemeka has undergone surgery after suffering a left knee injury in the defeat to West Ham.

Indeed, the former Aston Villa player was the best player of the match before the injury he picked up forced him to be replaced at half-time by Mudryk. The Chelsea teenager scored an eye-catching first half equaliser to cancel Nayef Aguerd’s early opener for the Hammers.

“Carney Chukwuemeka sustained an injury to his left knee during our game against West Ham United on Sunday. Last night Carney underwent surgery and will now begin his recovery. The 19-year-old will work with the club’s medical department on his rehabilitation at Cobham,” reads the statement.

Although Chelsea have not confirmed how long he is expected to be out of action, according to ‘Sky Sports’ the midfielder is expected to be out for six weeks.
