Erling Haaland took just over three minutes to score the opening goal of the Premier League season as Manchester City struck early at Burnley on Friday.

Treble winners Manchester City are facing Burnley in the first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season at Turf Moor. Guardiola’s men want to start the campaign on a high note.

And so they are doing. Erling Haaland took just three minutes to open the scoring to give his team the lead. The Norwegian star scored Manchester City’s first Premier League goal of the new season.

The Sky Blues won a corner-kick and Kevin De Bruyne took it. Rodri, who was one of Guardiola’s key players last season, received the ball after a pass from Bernardo Silva and crossed to Haaland, who scored the opener from close range.

Haaland scored 52 times in his debut season as City won the treble of Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. However, the Norwegian had failed to net in his previous six City games.

The 22-year-old ended his longest drought for the club when he slotted home Rodri’s header across goal after just three minutes and four seconds.

If the game ends this way, the Etihad Stadium outfit would have the first three points of this season in the English top-flight.
