Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara spoke about Kai Havertz’s performances in the Community Shield final and criticised the German in an interview with ‘talkSPORT’.
Arteta will have been encouraged by a composed display from England midfielder Declan Rice following his £105 million move from West Ham. Timber, another new recruit, was also solid at left-back but Havertz was typically profligate as he wasted Arsenal’s two best chances to take the lead.
Havertz will be expected to lead the Arsenal attack while Gabriel Jesus recovers from knee surgery and this was hardly the ideal introduction to his new club for the inconsistent German.
As a result, the 24-year-old has been heavily criticised on social media for his performances in the Community Shield final against Manchester City. Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara was among those to speak out on ‘talkSPORT’.
“Kai Havertz, Arsenal fans can have their say on this, but he can’t hit a barn door. We know what he’s going to give you – he’s going to give you hold up play, he’s going to work hard, but he’s going to let you down when it comes to the crunch.
“And they have to sort that problem because [Gabriel] Jesus is injured. He picks up too many injuries,” he concluded.
