According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have submitted an opening bid to Brentford for goalkeeper David Raya. The Spaniard is interested in silverware and is reportedly interested in the move to join the Premier League runners-up, but the Gunners first bid is well below the Bees’ original asking price of £40 million.
After it was reported earlier in the week that Arsenal were interested in Brentford keeper David Raya, it has now been reported that the Gunners have sent an opening bid to the Bees.
The offer is worth £20 million, with another £3 million in add-ons. There is yet to be a response from the west London club, it looks unlikely that Brentford would accept an offer.
Manager Thomas Frank declared that the Spanish international is worth £40 million to the Bees, and so even though Raya wants the move, and has agreed personal terms already according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Brentford could very well turn down the offer.
After talks fell through earlier in the summer with Bayern Munich – who were only interested in a loan rather a permanent move – Arsenal emerged as the frontrunners to sign the 27-year-old, who has been open about his desire for silverware.
He would be competing at Emirates with starting keeper Aaron Ramsdale, who was recently handed a new contract, but apparently feels content about the amount of game time he’s likely to receive following the move.
