Mauricio Pochettino gave his first interview as Chelsea’s new manager and spoke about his expectations for the upcoming season and his feelings about his new adventure.
Mauricio Pochettino has been the first and biggest change made by the board. The Argentinian manager was hired a month ago and will be in charge of the Chelsea squad until 2025.
The 51-year-old gave his first interview as the Blues’ manager on Monday and spoke about his expectations for the upcoming season. Pochettino said the Stamford Bridge outfit are “the greatest team in England”.
“For me, it’s a pleasure and honour to now be involved with Chelsea Football Club. We are so excited, and I know Chelsea very well, it is one of the greatest clubs in the world,” he began.
“I think our history is important and it’s a culture of winning. In the last 10, 12, 15 years, Chelsea are the greatest team in England. I know very well the Premier League and what the culture of Chelsea means. It’s exciting for us because we love good players, players with the capacity and then talent.
“We are here to try to help the club and the fans. In the end, the most important thing in football is for them to be happy and to feel proud of us and in the way we approach games. The players need to know that,” he continued.
“The expectation is to for them to be open and to let us manage. They need for us, first of all, to create a platform so they can feel comfortable here. They need to have their space and feel important.”
