According to ‘The Guardian’, the Sky Blues will try to sign Josko Gvardiol at all costs in the summer after hearing of the centre-back’s intentions. The Croatian wants to play at the Etihad Stadium next season.
RB Leipzig’s sporting director, Max Eberl confirmed on Sunday that his club were in talks with Manchester City over Josko Gvardiol, after the centre-back expressed his desire to join the champions of Europe.
As a result, Pep Guardiola’s side have decided to make a move for his transfer and step up talks to sign him in the summer transfer window, according to ‘The Guardian’.
Several reports in England claimed that both parties had already reached a verbal agreement along with Mateo Kovacic, who has already been announced as City’s new player from next campaign.
The German side are hoping to receive an offer of £86 million for his transfer as his current contract expires in 2027. If the Sky Blues pay that amount for the centre-back, Gvardiol will be the most expensive defender in history.
Josko Gvardiol to #ManCity is now very close, with @ManCity expected to pay a package worth around €100M.
