According to the ‘BBC’, Serie A side Bologna have rejected the Gunners’ first bid for Riccardo Calafiori’s services. Arsenal offered 40 million pounds but they will have to offer more to sign the fashionable defender.
Riccardo Calafiori is the talk of the town. The 22-year-old has put in great performances at Euro 2024 with Italy despite his country’s early elimination from the international competition. He also helped Bologna to Champions League qualification last season.
As a result, the centre-back is being heavily linked with some top European clubs for next campaign. Calafiori, who has played mostly for Italian teams except for a two-season stint at Basel, could start a new adventure in another league.
According to the ‘BBC’, Arsenal decided to move for him and present Bologna with an offer of 40 million pounds, which would be 47 million euros for the Italian club. However, the Serie A side rejected their initial bid.
They expect to receive at least 42 million pounds for the Italian international and will not accept less for his permanent transfer as Bologna are reluctant to let him leave in this summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are keen to secure Calafiori’s services for next term and are keeping an eye on the moves of their Premier League rivals to improve their offer.
