Man City’s Kalvin Phillips set to join West Ham on loan

Transfer market journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that West Ham United have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy.

About a month ago, Pep Guardiola apologised to Kalvin Phillips in public. Although Manchester City had spent 49 million euros to sign him from Leeds United, his manager could not find a place for him in his plans. Under this situation, he has only made 10 appearances so far this season, which has seen him pushed straight into the transfer market. And, more specifically, to West Ham United.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Hammers have reached an agreement with the Sky Blues for the loan of the midfielder for the remainder of the season with an option to buy. The Italian journalist also noted that the links that had been reported between the English midfielder and Barcelona were not true.

Now, he is set to continue his career in the Premier League, where he should enjoy more playing time under David Moyes. The defensive-minded and rugged manager has used quality profiles to sharpen his strategies and make his counter-attacks lethal. The most obvious example of this policy, backed by his management, is James Ward-Prowse, a free-kick specialits who is on the verge of breaking David Beckham’s record for free-kick goals.

In addition, the player will be able to feel, once again, an important role in an appealing project in the English top flight. Given Pep Guadiola’s rotation with Kevin de Bruyne -who has just returned from injury-, Ilkay Gundogan -who is no longer there, but was with Phillips as a teammate-, Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and company, he had run out of space.
