Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has signed a new contract with Barcelona and will play for the Catalan side until 2028, the Spanish club announced on Friday.
Barcelona have secured the services of one of the key players in Xavi Hernandez’s squad. First-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has extended his deal with the Catalan side.
The German keeper’s contract was due to expire in 2025 but he has signed a new contract until 2028. Moreover, he helps his teammates’ registrations for this season with his renewal.
Barcelona’s plans were to close the 31-year-old’s renewal before the weekend in order to register Inaki Pena. This way, the Spanish goalkeeper could be available for Sunday’s game against Villarreal.
Ter Stegen has become one of Barcelona’s captains following the departures of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. The Germany international has decided to defer his salary to extend his contract and help his current club.
