‘CIES Football Observatory’ have released a list of the estimated transfer values for the 10 most expensive goalkeepers worldwide, and the no.1 is somewhat surprising. Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale tops the list, beating out big names like Liverpool’s Alisson, Man City’s Ederson and Real Madrid’s Courtois.
It’s no surprise that the Premier League holds some of the most expensive talent in world football, but they might not lie where you first think.
‘CIES Football Observatory’, a Swiss sport research organisation, have released a list of the most expensive goalkeepers worldwide, and three of the 10 reside in the English top flight. Only one comes from outside of Europe’s top five leagues, Diogo Costa from Portugal’s Porto.
Take a look at the best of the best between the sticks.
10. Alex Meret
Napoli’s goalkeeper clocks in at no.10, reportedly worth €36 million.
9. Andre Onana
Champions League runner-up with Inter Milan and linked with a move to Man United, Onana is worth a reported €37 million.
8. Jan Oblak
Atletico’s keeper Oblak would fetch a neat €40 million if the Spanish side decided to sell.
7. Gregor Kobel
Borussia Dortmund’s keeper is the only representive of the Bundesliga on this list, and would cost €48 million if he wanted a move this summer.
6. Thibaut Courtois
Real Madrid’s veteran has the biggest value of La Liga keepers. The ’21-’22 Champions League winner is worth €52 million.
5. Ederson Moraes
Man City’s Ederson clocks in at fifth, and the treble winner is worth a reported €57 million.
4. Diogo Costa
The only keeper on the list from outside of Europe’s top five leagues is Porto’s Costa. Another possible replacement for David De Gea at Man United, he would cost the Red Devils €65 million.
3. Alisson Becker
The bronze medal goes to Liverpool’s Alisson who, still with four seasons left on his contract, would fetch the Reds €67 million.
2. Gianluigi Donnarumma
The only keeper from Ligue 1 comes unsurprisingly from champions, PSG, and their Italian giant is supposedly the second most valuable goalie in the world, with an estimated worth of €75 million.
1. Aaron Ramsdale
The top spot goes to the Gunners’ Aaron Ramsdale, who raised some eyebrows after being relegated twice before being bought by Arsenal. A month after signing a contract extension, the 25-year-old is now worth €79 million.
