According to reports, Manchester United are continuing talks over Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, as the club continue their search for a ‘9’. The young Dane has receieved a lot of attention aftera stellar season in Serie A, and United have been in need of power up front since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in November.
Manchester United have a tricky summer ahead of them. They are in need of some key reinforcements as they look to compete in the Champions League once again, but due to the club’s takeover saga, manager Erik ten Hag is having to navigate the transfer window on a tight budget.
Already the Red Devils have reportedly agreed on a £60 million ransfer for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, but another area desperately in need of a boost is their front line. The club won’t be keeping Wout Weghorst, who signed on a loan from Burnley in January, meaning they need to find an alternative.
The Manchester outfit have been struggling up front since the unceremonious departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November, but appear to have finally found a target. Although they were linked to Tottenham’s Harry Kane, this was always unlikely as club owner Daniel Levy didn’t want to sell their star forward to a Premier League rival.
The club have now entered talks with Serie A side Atalanta over their young striker, Rasmus Hojlund, according to ‘Daily Mail’. There has been interest for some time, but the Red Devils aren’t walking away, despite the outlet reporting that the Italians have put a €100 million price tag on the 20-year-old striker.
Atalanta have already reportedly rejected a €40 million bid from the English club, who are planning to make a second offer in the region of €50 million. Other outlets report that the Serie A side might listen to offers just above €60 million, but it may come down to United’s powers of negotiations, and they may need to sell more players to raise the funds.
Hojlund played 42 competitive matches in Serie A and with the Danish National Team last season, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists.
