After pulling out of race for Declan Rice, Manchester City are reportedly joining the race for Celta’s Gabri Veiga. The Cityzens are looking to boost their midfield after Gundogan departure and losing out on Rice.
Despite their astonishing treble win last season, Manchester City can’t afford to rest on their laurels this summer. Already, the club has waved goodbye to captain and star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and although they have plenty of talent on their bench, they are looking for a player to add to the squad.
‘The Guardian’ wrote on Wednesday that the Cityzens are entering the race for Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga. The 21-year-old had a stellar season, netting 11 goals and making four assists in 36 appearances, which has garnered him attention from some of the Premier League’s biggest names.
Liverpool and Chelsea had already registered interest in the Spaniard, who would come with a €40 million release clause. His two goals on the final day of the season against Barcelona helped his team avoid relegation.
City have already signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, but will need to add to their reinforcements as they look to defend their treble this season. Premier League rivals Arsenal are on the verge of signing Declan Rice for a record £105 million, and Liverpool are exploring several midfield options to add to their signing of Alexis Mac Allister.
